Soviet-American Cooperation

Hitler is looking off into the distance-focusing on his own agenda of eradicating the world of non Airien humans, Stalin-looking at his next greatest challenge, Rosevelt-looking at Stalin to watch out for the safety of his country, Churchill-just smoking a cigar
Soviet Russia and the Americans had a common goal. They both were determined to have Adolf Hitler eradicated (94 Hess). However they had different reasons for this. Joseph Stalin wanted Hitler dead because Stalin was always quick to kill his greatest threat, and Hitler was certainly seen as Stalin's greatest threat. Teddy Roosevelt however just wanted to follow the orders from the terrified American people who were exposed to more information about Hitler mass killings than the Russian killings. To the American people the president of the united states in the 1940's, Teddy Roosevelt, before the first meeting with Joseph Stalin said, "I cannot take communism""But to cross the bridge I would hold hands with the devil" to assure the public he did not approve of the evils the Americans knew to some extent Stalin had done and will do (93 Hess) . The Americans at this time (and even in modern times) not quite sure of the extent to which Stalin was mass murdering and killing those in and around Russia. But the fear of this dictator was still a driving force of cooperation. With all the meetings and promises made on both sides, Stalin never was a direct threat to America, and America was never a direct threat to Stalin.
If Stalin had never died and his communist empire continued to grow, only then would he put any real effort into have a drastic societal changes to America. Stalin's sole goal was to change the form of government into his own idealistic communist society. Since Stalin was working his way out from Russia to the rest of the world, America was not first on his agenda. If Stalin had successfully conquered all of Europe, then Stalin would have set his sights to America where he would use considerable cruel force to feed his communist empire. But Stalin's empire fell long before he could acomplish this goal, so America was left seemingly unscathed by Stalin's influence.
